Brave Beauties
GIRLS, AGES 2-19, ARE INVITED TO JOIN US AS WE EXPLORE THe WOMEN OF THE BIBLE (BOTH OLD AND NEW TESTAMENTS) AND THE CHURCH AGE.

Brave Beauties
a ministry of Crescent Baptist Church
Mission
Nurturing girls so that they grow into the brave and purposeful women Jesus Christ creates them to be. The girls are divided into five stages of growth:
Seeds (age 2-5),
Roots (age 6-9),
Greenery (age 10-13),
Blooms (age 14-17),
and Fruit (age 18-19).

Beauties Growing in God’s Garden
Each stage of growth is divided into four years (except the Fruit), the years are divided into four quarters, and every quarter into three months. Every month presents the opportunity to learn about an Old Testament, New Testament or "church age" beauty. Some of these beauties were brave in following God's plan for their lives and some were belligerent in deciding to do their own thing no matter how it affected others.

Community Service
Community service is a character building opportunity for each stage of growth. Seeds are encouraged to complete five hours per year, Roots have 10, Greenery have 15, Blooms have 20, and Fruit have 25. If extra hours are gained, they will be awarded in groups of five as well. We will try to organize four events a year, one per quarter.

Creed
*Seeds of the Word are planted in each heart (Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23).
*Roots of love are grounded in Christ (Ephesians 3:16-19).
*Greenery can only thrive with the Father when abiding in obedience (John 15:1-17).
*Blooms are the words of wisdom passed on from women and men that encourage continued growth (Proverbs 31; Titus 1:16-2:5; 1 Peter 3:1-7; 1 Timothy 2:9-15).
*Fruit comes when we walk following the Spirit rather than the works of the flesh (Galatians 5:19-24).

Purposeful Profession Possibilities
At the beginning of every meeting we will be introduced to a Brave Beauty from Black History that corresponds to our lesson for the night. Some of the women introduced will be Maya Angelou, LeahChase, Nichelle Nichols, and Mahalia Jackson. This starting point will be in lieu of several different categories with sub-activities like the Girl Scouts or American Heritage Girls have had. Our participants will choose one Purposeful Profession from a list of possibilities that could correspond to modern examples for our biblical beauties. The Seeds and Roots stages of growth will have the opportunity for a dress up project. The Greenery stage has a basic skills display project. The Blooms stage will conduct interviews and make a presentation on all the information they gathered. The Fruit stage will be practical help to achieve the PPP she believes that God desires here to go into.

Awards
Instead of earning badges the two younger stages (Seeds & Roots) will be making their own sticker terrariums. The older three stages (Greenery, Blooms & Fruit) will be earning ribbons to make a Garden wreath for their bedroom door or wherever they decide to hang it. Different colored ribbons will be given for each stage, the community service hours, etc.
They will also be able to earn pieces of fleece from their participation in the Purposeful Professional Projects (PPP) that will be used to make a personally chosen, practical award: a blanket, pillows, poncho, slippers, etc. Each leader will keep track of these....

Each monthly meeting will start at 7 pm on the second Tuesday evening of the month. It will open with a "tea time" for about 30 minutes. During the first 15 minutes socializing is commendable and then the PPP Beauties and related careers will be presented during the last 15 minutes. After this the girls break off into their stages of growth for completion of their journals and activities. The girls will stay with their stage of growth until the remaining ten minutes when everyone will come back together for any announcements. The goal is to be done no later than 8:30 pm.

Due to this being an outreach ministry, we do not have any regular fees. All awards will be gifted.
